Houses in Belgium
We’ve selected what we feel are the key examples of Belgian Properties. We aim to include residential buildings that are either of top quality or interesting, or ideally both.
We cover completed residential buildings in Belgium, new home designs and architecture competitions across the country. The focus is on contemporary houses in Belgium but information on traditional Belgian residences is also welcome.
We have 1 page of Belgian House selections with links to numerous individual project pages.

Belgian Houses, chronological:
House in Oudenaarde, East Flanders, west Belgium – 23 Oct 2013
Design: Architecten De Vylder Vinck Taillieu
House GEPO, Wijgmaal – 27 Aug 2013
Design: OYO – Open Y Office

The garden is the living room, the small lake the bathroom. The kitchen you’ll find next door. OYO chose for a minimalistic approach, omitting fancy details. There is no need of ornament. This and others choices result in a low budget home that sticks perfectly to the basic idea of living, functioning very open minded.
Zero Energy House, Lokeren, northern Belgium
Design: BLAF Architecten

Zero Energy House Belgium – 26 Feb 2013
The allotment creates a condition that is both generic and specific, context and non-text. The house deals with this condition in an apparently indifferent way, whilst in fact it is questioning the allotment: it is reformulating the concept of the front, side and back facade by addressing the surroundings in equivalent ways, and it is consciously leaving any kind of fencing behind.
Sint-Agatha-Berchem, north-central Belgium
Design: BURO II & ARCHI+I

Sint-Agatha-Berchem – 8 Oct 2012
Sustainable social housing district Sint-Agatha-Berchem, sites ‘Termonde’ and ‘Gérance’.
These new social housing units are in addition to the social housing district built in 1922-1925 by architect Victor Bourgeois. One plot is located along the Beheersstraat and has 43 units, the other one is along the Dendermondestraat with 32 units. On both plots, four blocks of apartments and low-energy houses have been built, classically aligned or in a sawtooth configuration.
