MD House is located in the Patagonia region in Argentina in a site with a subtle slope and views towards the Gutierrez Lake and the Catedral, Ventana and Otto Hills.

On the first approach, two interrogations arise: what is the relation between the project and the landscape and how does one live in a spacious home.

Alric Galindez Arquitectos are looking for a building in which the human presence is manifested by the abstract geometry, which in juxtaposition with the surrounding landscape, enhances nature. This dichotomy, extends throughout the whole execution of the project.

The house is divided into volumes connected by spaces which are exposed to the landscape. Therefore, the access to any of these volumes implies going in and out between the house and landscape. Getting exposed to the landscape means taking refuge in the house itself. One becomes part of the landscape and watches it through framed through the window.

The idea is built by five prisms; each one of them is rotated from its axis to comply with the roof´s slope regulations. This way, both the roof and the volume make up one single abstract element. The prisms are joined by various connectors (stairs, hallways, and bridges), they are built voids. The contrast between the connectors and closed prisms, create a rhythm in the promenade of the house.

Alric Galindez Arquitectos tried achieving the feeling of coziness by the separation of the volumes. Smaller spaces become appropriate more easily. The distance of each volume from one another, enable them to be inhabited independently.

Therefore, a spacious home located in a natural setting, enhances its landscape as well as it invites to be inhabited at the same time.

La casa se encuentra en la Patagonia Argentina en un terreno de suave pendiente y vistas hacia el lago Gutiérrez y los cerros Catedral, Ventana y Otto.

Como primer acercamiento surgen 2 inquietudes, cual es la relación con el paisaje y cómo habitar una casa espaciosa.

Buscamos una construcción donde la presencia humana se manifieste por la abstracción geométrica que, al contraponerse con el paisaje circundante, subraya lo marcadamente natural. Esta relación de opuestos se extiende a toda la realización de la obra.

La casa está dividida en volúmenes que se conectan a través de espacios expuestos al paisaje. Así, el acceso a cualquiera de los módulos implica entrar-salir a la casa y al paisaje. Exponerse al paisaje y refugiarse en la casa. Ser parte del paisaje y observarlo enmarcado en la ventana.

Esta idea se construye con 5 prismas, cada uno de los cuáles está girado en su eje axial para cumplir la reglamentación de pendiente de cubierta. De esta forma, techo y volumen forman un solo elemento abstracto. Los prismas están vinculados por conectores vidriados (escaleras, pasos y puentes); vacíos construidos. La contraposición entre conectores y volúmenes cerrados genera en su recorrido un ritmo.

Procuramos generar a través de la división de la casa en volúmenes, una sensación de cobijo. Espacios más pequeños permiten ser apropiados con mayor facilidad. La separación entre cada uno de los espacios hace que puedan ser habitados de forma independiente.

Así, una casa espaciosa y ubicada en un paisaje natural busca resaltar su entorno e invita a ser habitada a la vez.
