Carnaxide Offices
This Carnaxide Offices building, is located in the surroundings of Lisbon, was born in 1996 to house three functions: a Lusitana beer factory, a small commercial area and some offices. During the years, several interventions have modified its original characteristics, degrading it, until 2011, when the building was completely closed.
The intervention proposal is characterized by the reformulation of the volume and the redesign of the facades, with a change in use from industry to services, with the objective of reinforcing the business attractiveness of the site and of the municipality itself.
Due to the unexceptional design either of the façade or of the inside, it is proposed a completely new contemporary architecture, maintaining only the structural skeleton – slabs, pillars, and beams.
The proposed façade is made by two layers, one of glass – typically used in office buildings and one of metal – commonly used in industrial ones, therefore symbolically combining the past and the future of the building.
The inside will be restructured into large open multifunctional spaces, in line with a modern conception of inclusive and cooperative working philosophy.
