Holder Mathias has completed work on a 136 student ‘studio’ bedroom development called “Livin” at 21-27 City Road in the centre of Cardiff. In support of the regeneration of this important student area, the Livin scheme has been designed as a simple, yet eye-catching addition to the diverse and eclectic mix of properties that characterise City Road.

New Purpose-Built Student Accommodation in Cardiff
Planning application submitted for new purpose-built student accommodation development at north-westerly side of Howard Gardens. The proposed development occupies half of the square on the north-westerly side of Howard Gardens. The site was formerly occupied by a bowling green and club pavilion that has been in a state of disrepair and not been in public use for a number of years.

Architectural exhibition explores our interaction with surroundings in a multi-faceted display, offering an insight into how our everyday environments are designed.
This architecture exhibition looks at the effects of texture, heat and light on everyday surroundings. It is a collaboration between the Design Commission for Wales and Ruthin Craft Centre.

Cardiff Bay Buildings
Cardiff Waterside, funded by Aviva Investors, has been granted planning consent for a new development at its estate in Cardiff Bay. Leading architect Holder Mathias has been appointed to design the three buildings that constitute the new development, which includes a new 210-bedroom Premier Inn hotel and two speculative Grade A office developments totalling 160,000 sq ft.

The college is one of the largest in Wales serving Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and this project brings together many of its activities onto a single campus in the heart of the city.

Maggie’s has announced it is to build a Centre at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.
The partnership between Maggie’s and Velindre NHS Trust will benefit thousands of people living with cancer in Cardiff and the surrounding area.
Architects Dow Jones has agreed to design the Centre and is currently in talks with the Trust and Maggie’s to find a suitable site.
