The aim of the project was to upgrade the museum building to meet modern curatorial standards, encourage visitors into the ruins, and improve facilities. A glulam spruce central hall has been inserted into the existing L-shaped timber visitor centre.
The proposed building forms a major part of the University’s £200m campus development plan, which will be delivered over the next five years.
It will be home to 1,850 students and staff, who are currently spread across various separate locations in the city.
