Corian® Design is delighted to support Interior Design & Fashion Marketing students from Falmouth University in an intriguing pop-up installation for the London Design Festival. In collaboration with Campaign Design Studios, Corian
® has supplied material and expertise to help bring to life a project called UNKNOWN – the winning concept in a competition to explore the challenges that physical retail environments face while online shopping booms.

The charity Mind is also a key collaborator in the event, which takes place on September 22nd in Shoreditch at 133-135 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 7DG

The winning solution, UNKNOWN is a structure consisting of archways and walls made of biodegradable foam. Visitors will be asked to chip away at these walls using Corian® tools. As the visitors carve away at the foam, they will discover small boxes containing bespoke jewellery designed by Falmouth University alumnus Joanna Bury. Each group of visitors will have a time limit of 60 seconds to discover their prize. As the day progresses, the structure is gradually eroded to reveal a uniquely designed seating structure, also made from Corian® that will remain at the location, inviting visitors to sit, relax and socialise.

“Corian® has a long history both of supporting design students and playing an innovative part at the London Design Festival, so this project was a natural fit for us – in the same way that Corian® was the ideal choice to achieve these design objectives. It is a pleasure to participate in such a fascinating, interactive concept, especially as retail design is another area in which Corian® plays a high-profile role and a sector which needs to remain inventive in the current climate,” says Gary Baker, MD of Corian® distributor CDUK.
