‘The People’s Choice’ accreditation is a significant endorsement for Broadway Malyan’s designs and creative ideas for Centenary Square which, according to lead Public Realm Designer and Director of Landscape Architecture Danny Crump, took ‘a place in time’ as its central idea and sought to look to the past, present and future in creating a world-class public space for Birmingham.

Commenting on the accolade, James Rayner, Board Director at Broadway Malyan, said:
“Winning the “People’s Choice” accolade in this top quality, international design competition is an honour and means a great deal to us as a business with strong connections with Birmingham. It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of a process that will help shape Birmingham’s future and we applaud Birmingham City Council and its sponsors for taking this open competition route. Centenary Square is a vital part of what gives Birmingham its distinct character and it’s great to see major investment being made to ensure it continues to serve an ambitious and world-class city. We congratulate the winner and look forward to seeing Centenary Square evolve over the next few years.”

Broadway Malyan is currently working on a number of other high profile schemes in the city including preparations for ’One Station Public Realm’ the new HS2/Moor Street/New Street station interchange space and also a new ‘gateway’ scheme for Snow Hill station. Also locally, the practice is working on a redesign and improvement scheme for the University of Coventry’s Gosford Street Campus.
