This vault was designed by architects Fernando Vegas and Camilla Mileto. It was created as a tribute both to the region’s rich ceramic-making tradition and to the characteristic tile vault technique, historically widespread throughout the East of Spain.
Design: Raul Sousa Cardoso & Graca Vaz. Integrated in a hybrid residential context which crosses urban and rural references, the mortuary house emerges as a filter between them and a universe of contemplation of the distant mountains.
Setting the problem: Japan has an extremely high number of elderly and the busy urbanization of the after war years created a substantial problem of where to locate the deceased, and how to correctly deal with them.
