The Dock Kitchen Ladbroke Grove
Dock Kitchen is part of the newly redeveloped Portobello Dock complex, which is rapidly evolving into West London’s most innovative hub for design and food lovers. The extraordinary waterside converted Wharf Building has been designed by Design Research Studio, under the direction of international renowned designer, Tom Dixon.
The food by Stevie Parle follows a similarly creative format with a constantly changing menu inspired by an author, season or favourite place of Stevie’s. As part of London Design Festival this week, Tom Dixon hosts The Dock, a diverse selection of indoor, outdoor and waterside manufacturing, installations and workshops from established brands and emerging designers.
On the Design Bites Tour, Tom Dixon will give an introduction to the site and focus on the design of the restaurant, while Stevie Parle speaks about his approach to menu design.
The full exhibition, including the Tom Dixon Shop, will be open for the Design Bites tour, drinks and samples from the menu will be served on the terrace.
Design Bites London
Design Bites is a new initiative by RIBA London in partnership with the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards offering the public a behind-the-scenes look at London restaurants where both designer and chef talk through the core concepts at the heart of each enterprise.
This autumn, three Design Bites events will take place at landmark London dining establishments that have been shortlisted for the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. Co-led by the venue architect (or designer) alongside the chef or operator, each tour offers an exclusive insight into the design, menu and ethos behind the venture and culminates with a drink and taste of something on the menu as well as a chance to mingle with the experts and other tour attendees.
Design Bites an initiative of RIBA London and the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards and is part of the RIBA’s Autumn events series.
Totally independent, the UK and International Restaurant & Bar Design Awards is the only concept of its kind dedicated exclusively to design. The Awards invites and receives entries from the world’s top architects, designers and hospitality operators. The judges are a highly influential panel of top design, lifestyle & hospitality personalities, whose role is to recognize and reward entrants for design excellence.
