Grimshaw Architects to speak at inaugural RIBA + VitrA Talk at RIBA North
Leading bathroom brand VitrA is delighted to announce the first RIBA + VitrA Regional Talk at RIBA North with Grimshaw Architects. Part of VitrA’s continued partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the talk will be taking place on Thursday 1st August at the RIBA North offices in Liverpool.

To mark the closing of Grimshaw‘s “Evolution” exhibition at RIBA North, Annelie Kvick Thompson and Stuart Grahn, Partner and Associate Principal at Grimshaw, will be discussing their recent work, from the Heathrow Expansion to their new development of Eden Project North on the shores of Morecambe bay. Delivering large-scale projects spanning both scale and geography, the practice has been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2019 for its design of London Bridge Station.

VitrA partnered with the RIBA in Autumn 2018 to launch the RIBA + VitrA Talks series. The flagship programme is aimed at showcasing the best in contemporary established and emerging voices in architecture, both in the UK and internationally with talks occurring in London, Istanbul and regional cities in the UK.
The 2018 programme of the RIBA + VitrA Talks consisted of four critically-acclaimed talks featuring celebrated international names Kazuyo Sejima, Sir David Adjaye and Kate Macintosh amongst others.
In 2019, the series opened with talks by non-profit design firm MASS Design Group and world-class architects Frida Escobedo and Emre Arolat. These were followed with talks by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, speaking in London and Istanbul in April, and architects Feilden Fowles talking at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, recently shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize.
The partnership with RIBA reflects VitrA’s long-established commitment to add cultural value to society through the global exchange of architectural discourse.

Annelie Kvick Thompson
Annelie is a Partner at Grimshaw. A highly versatile designer, she is experienced in delivering large and complex projects which often incorporate mixed-use regeneration, place-making and transport. Annelie is currently based in London and has international experience in Grimshaw’s Sydney office where she led commercial projects such as 333 George Street and significant urban transformation projects, including the Central to Eveleigh masterplan, and Sydney’s new Light Rail project.
Since returning to the UK, Annelie has continued to lead major London redevelopments including the mixed-use masterplan for Euston.
Stuart Grahn
Stuart is an Associate Principal at Grimshaw. An experienced architect, Stuart has an ability to manage highly challenging and complex activities in a pragmatic and collaborative way. He combines specialist rail knowledge with previous experience in the aviation, residential, office and education sectors.
Stuart has also led th e architectural strategy for the master plan and station elements of the Crewe HS2 hub station and develop proposals for the Northern Powerhouse Rail project, which aims to transform connectivity between the key economic centres of the north.
