Live Work Play:
recent work by Hampshire architects
On 14 June at the Winchester Discovery Centre, Live Work Play – an exciting new exhibition of architecture and landscape design projects by Hampshire architects – will open to the public.
There is a strong legacy in the Hampshire region of high creative standards in architecture. Live Work Play showcases a range of thoughtful, robust, elegant and ingenious designs – just under 100 projects in total from within the county, and further afield in the UK and beyond. The exhibition shows how 26 exceptionally talented local architectural practices have added value to a wide mix of briefs from across the public and private sectors – from organisations, companies and private individuals – responding to today’s needs across Live Work Play.
Exhibitors include award-winning practices such as PAD Studio (recent winner of 3 RIBA Awards), Design Engine (RIBA and Civic Trust Award winners, 2014), AR Design Studio, Design ACB and John Pardey Architects.
Live Work Play is at the heart of the Hampshire Festival of Architecture 2014, which runs from 28 May-23 July with a rich programme of lectures by accomplished architects including Richard Jobson, Design Engine (25 June) and Robert Sakula, Ash Sakula (23 July), talks including Keith Myers, MD of The Myers Touch – Designing kitchens with light, space and laughter (17 June), design workshops for local schools, and a football tournament at Kings School, Winchester (21 June).
Live Work Play is staged by RIBA Hampshire, and is curated by author and consultant Lucy Bullivant Hon FRIBA. The exhibition design and graphic identity is by Grant Norris, Fan Ying, Zhang Azhou, Winchester School of Art, Graphic Arts Department.
Live Work Play has been made possible by the kind support of the RIBA Local Initiative Fund, and by: ADAM Architecture, AR Design Studio, Creative Catering & Marquees, Eckersley O’Callaghan, Interface, The Myers Touch, Pure Home Technology, Sub Zero & Wolf, and The Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects.
