OPPENHEIM ARCHITECTURE APPOINTS LUXURY HOSPITALITY DESIGNER AND REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT VETERAN CHRISTIAN GLAUSER BENZ AS VICE PRESIDENT FOR GLOBAL STRATEGY

NEW YORK – January 11, 2016 – OPPENHEIM Architecture, the award-winning architecture, interior design and planning firm, announced today the addition of Christian Glauser Benz to their leadership team. Originally from Switzerland, Mr. Glauser Benz will serve as vice president and will oversee the hospitality design practice, as well as the implementation of the firm’s global strategy and business development initiatives.

“We are thrilled to have Christian join us as we continue our efforts to meet the demands of our clients around the world,” said Chad Oppenheim, principal and lead designer of OPPENHEIM Architecture. “Christian is a highly skilled professional whose background, business acumen and keen eye for design compliment not only our aesthetic, but our ambitions as well.”

Mr. Glauser Benz will bring to Oppenheim an extensive network of hotel and retail developer clients as well as real estate capital groups across domestic and international markets which will help strengthen Oppenheim’s visibility and an already fast growing pipeline of work.

“I am thrilled to join one of the most innovative and respected architecture firms of our time and I am confident that we will continue providing our clients with beautiful design solutions that are both functional and inspiring,” says Mr. Glauser Benz. “With an already large number of repeat clients, the firm is well positioned to keep delivering first in class, socially and economically viable projects, including high end residential, luxury hotels and resorts, mixed-use, commercial, master-plans and high rise projects. I welcome the work ahead and the opportunity to help bring more OPPENHEIM projects to life around the globe.”

Mr. Glauser Benz began his career working for famed architects Cesar Pelli in New York and Frank Gehry in Los Angeles where he was part of the design for several high-profile projects including the new Novartis global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, the Science Library at Princeton University, the Goldman Sachs headquarters in Jersey City and the Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem.

Prior to joining OPPENHEIM Architecture, Mr. Glauser Benz was a vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a Fortune 500 real estate company based in their Los Angeles office. He was responsible for overseeing all new hospitality developments for the west coast and Hawaii, working closely with developers, capital groups and luxury hotel brand operators.

Some of Christian’s past clients included Hilton, Marriott, IHG Hotels, Virgin Hotels, Woodbine Development, Gansevoort Hotels, Gatehouse Capital, Blackstone, Apple, Microsoft, Oberoi Hotels, Mandarin Oriental, Wyndham Hotels, amongst others.

Mr. Glauser Benz was also a senior project designer in Singapore for global hospitality design firm WATG where he was responsible for overseeing the design of a number of high-profile resorts in Egypt, Northern China and Southeast Asia.

Mr. Glauser Benz is a trained architect and holds a bachelor degree in architecture from Tulane University in New Orleans where he graduated with honors and a masters in advanced architectural design from Columbia University where he was the recipient of the Kinney Travel Fellowship. He is a recipient of the Certificate of Merit from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is a frequent speaker at industry events.
