Golden Architecture
in City Sculpture Park, 2007
Issuer: KME Germany AG; Editor: Klaus Sikora, s-works

A temporary construction project has been specially created to mark the
occasion of the internationally renowned outdoor exhibition Skulptur Projekte
Münster 07.

As a model for thoroughly successful temporary architecture, the switch+
information pavilion lucidly illustrates the urban focus of Skulptur Projekte
Münster 07. Planned and supervised by Münster firm modularbeat,
a twelve meter high parallelepiped, which is clad on all sides with the
new copper alloy TECU® Gold, was built adjacent to the Museum of Art
and Cultural History and the exhibition project office on an open square
that has been unused up to now. The project makes interesting references
to its direct surroundings and its own function. The new façade
material is in this context an ideal choice. The golden surface sets off
distinctive accents and attracts a great deal of attention. As with the
entire range of TECU® brand copper products, TECU® Gold offers
astounding design possibilities in combination with many other materials.
Behind the elegant surface there are clear economic benefits: TECU®
Gold has all the advantages typical of copper such as easy processing
and an incomparably long life. In addition to outstanding mechanical abrasion
resistance, the material has shown unsurpassed corrosion resistance and
excellent stability and rigidity. TECU® Gold also has the unique communicative
element of any pure copper surface by which the original bright gold colour
of the surface undergoes its own characteristic changes when exposed to
weathering. The initial matting results in a matte, light yellow tone,
which later gradually evolves into a darker, lively golden hue.

Switch+ is, amazingly, the first architecture project implemented by modulorbeat
up to now. Considering the attention-getting value of the project, the
renown of the event Skulptur Projekte Münster 07 and the general
positive reception they have earned, it can safely be assumed that it
wont be their last. The beat goes on.
