Remodelled former parking area on the site of VW Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany, by GRAFT architects: a quiet area where the buyer of a new car can get familiar with all the functions in an almost private atmosphere. The building had to give protection from rain and direct sunlight.
The central idea behind the design by Henn Architekten is an encircling, crossed over and apparently never-ending band. Cast in concrete, it picks out the tectonics of the buildings as a central theme. It is the constructed transformation of a matrix.
