Birmingham’s Mailbox Building

Transformation of Birmingham’s Mailbox, designed by Stanton Williams, will shortly begin on site following the appointment of contractors. Works on the building are planned for completion in 2015.
Originally completed in 1970, Mailbox was converted into one of the largest mixed use buildings in the UK in 2001, with 16,000 sqm of commercial office space, two hotels and over 9,000 sqm of retail space.

Design2e has been commissioned to deliver a two-stage tender project to build two luxury apartment blocks, called Left Bank, in the centre of Birmingham. The towers will stand at 22 and over 31 storeys when complete, making the larger of the pair the tallest residential building in the city.

Students had to move from buildings at Nottingham Trent University after similar cladding to the Grenfell Tower was discovered. Three of seven blocks at Byron House student accommodation reportedly use Reynobond ACM PE panels for building cladding.
