yoo Inspired by Starck enters St Petersburg with elite citadel
Design: Philippe Starck
LeontievskyMys, the debut residential project for yoo, the internationally renowned property design firm is launched in St. Petersburg, Russia, under the yoo Inspired by Starck brand. The new399 unit residential complex includes an exclusive clutch of apartments by yoo Inspired by Starck. Set on stunning Petrogradskaya with sweeping views across the Gulf of Finland, LeontievskyMys is also the first design-led, international-standard luxury housing in St Petersburg. The yoo Inspired by Starck design brand is led by Creative Director Philippe Starck, who co-founded yoo with Chairman John Hitchcox in 1999.
John Hitchcox, Founder of yoo said: “This is an historic occasion for yoo. It is our first development in the beautiful city of St. Petersburg. We believe it is a landmark moment for the city itself, as this is the beginning of a new chapter in its illustrious life, as St Petersburg welcomes LeontievskyMys as the first ever design focused, internationally branded residence. I personally feel very honoured that we can join the iconic designs of yoo Inspired by Starck, with the great city of St Petersburg, through LeontievskyMys”.
St Petersburg is internationally known as a city of great beauty and historical importance, and the advent of the first yoo project in the city now marks it as one to watch for the latest developments in design. Philippe Starck commented on the concept of LeontievskyMys within this context; “It will be the first top class residential project, the pure elite project. The concept of this project is based on a very modern, timeless interpretation of a palace or citadel. However, it is not the palace with golden chandelier, but an idea of the highest quality. Whya citadel? Because we have to be together and protected.”
Matthew Dalby, yoo Studio director added, “Creating internationally inspiring designs for people to live in everyday is always enormously rewarding, and it is our absolute passion here at yoo. Working so closely with Philippe Starck we bring together his iconic design vision and intelligent approach to spaces, and combine it with sensitivity to the local surroundings. The added joy here is that through Leontievsky Mys, we are bringing yoo inspired by Starck to St Petersburg for the first time. It has been a truly inspirational project.”
Bringing the project to fruition is Igor Onokov, CEO of Leontievsky Mys, who commented “Creating an object designed with such exclusive design is not only an exciting concept, for us it is also a business solution that allows an increase in the liquidity of the apartments. It is estimated that through the participation of yoo, the value of the apartment is increased two-fold”.
The residential project will be opened officially in late 2013 by yoo Inspired by Starck Creative Director Philippe Starck.
