FCC, the infrastructure and environmental services group, has achieved a new milestone in international construction. The company has been awarded one of the contracts to build the Riyadh metro (Saudi Arabia), which has an estimated budget of over 16.3 billion euro, i.e. 2.5 times the cost of the Medina-Mecca railway. This is the largest international contract in the history of construction in which a Spanish company has been awarded a contract. The consortium headed by FCC will build lines 4, 5 and 6 of the metro. The contract is worth 6.070 billion euro.

Mass Rapid Transit Station Singapore – 21 Sep 2011
For Rochor Mass Rapid Transit Station, the design was inspired by circuit board design, with its fluid digital patterns to signify dynamism and movement. The circuit board becomes a fitting identity to the surrounding context, with the adjoining areas of Sim Lim being the IT hub of Singapore.

Manhattan Subway development
“The architect started a wave; we came in later and tried to make a wave, break a wave. Like a rise and fall of sand, like an ocean wave: use the wave, then, to make a view – the force of a wave – the wave forces a view. Not a picture of a wave, not a wave in two dimensions. A wave in all directions. The façade itself should be a wave, like a wave in the ocean, like a wave of sand.
The façade waves out, bulges out, to enclose the stairway up to the station. A ramp to the station: the façade waves up and down, it waves out, it breaks to make an entrance.”

Wilhelminaplein Metro Station : New Station Building under the Kop van Zuid
The Wilheminahof was designed for the banks of the Maas, next to the abutment of the Erasmus Bridge. The project, a combination of courthouse, tax office and other offices, was meant to be a stimulus for the southern bank of the Maas, with the ambition of drawing the centre of the city out across the river. The Wilhelminaplein metro station had to be constructed beneath this complex of buildings. Immediately after the metro tunnel has passed through under the Maas, the tube is still at its deepest point, and it then rises as steeply as possible in order to attain the level of the aboveground metro line.
