Buckley Gray Yeoman’s re-design of Nando’s shortlisted for Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2010
The re-branded branch of Nandos Manchester designed by Architectural practice Buckley Gray Yeoman opened to the public in December 2009. Four months on, the restaurant has been shortlisted in the ‘multiple restaurants’ category for the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2010.
Brought in to provide a fresh design approach, Buckley Gray Yeoman worked closely with Nandos to evolve an established brand. A fusion of African and Portuguese influences has been carefully molded with contemporary design to move the brand forward. The practice worked with the African Art Foundation on several specially commissioned pieces, as well as designing bespoke lighting solutions.
Rewarding both operators and designers for design excellence, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards now in its second year and totally independent, is the only concept of its kind dedicated exclusively to design.
The winners will be announced on the evening of the 22nd June 2010. With nearly 400 entries from over 38 countries worldwide.
Matt Yeoman, Buckley Gray Yeoman Director says: “We’re very proud to have made the shortlist. The re-branding of Nandos perfectly illustrates our practice approach to providing imaginative responses to briefs that meet the complex needs of today’s society. We believe that good design brings a better quality of life – as well as bringing commercial advantage to our clients’ business.”
