FAR EAST CONSORTIUM (FEC) CONSULTS PUBLIC ON PLANS FOR 80 NEW HOMES AT ADDINGTON STREET, NEW CROSS, MANCHESTER

Developer Far East Consortium (FEC) is consulting people on its plans for 80 high quality new homes at Addington Street, New Cross, Manchester.

The Hawkins\Brown designed scheme is aimed at owner occupiers and includes ground floor three-bed town houses to create active street frontages. The scheme also features rooftop apartments which will benefit from private, stepped terraces.

Ahead of submitting a planning application to Manchester City Council (MCC), FEC is seeking the view of residents and business owners on its proposals at the site bounded by Addington Street, Cross Keys Street, Marshall Street and Chadderton Street.

Even with the tight urban street pattern, the development is designed around a shared central, landscape courtyard which will provide high-quality amenity space, with seating and planting where residents can meet and relax, plus secure cycle storage for each home.

Located in the New Cross area of Manchester, the site is covered by MCC’s New Cross Neighbourhood Development Framework and Public Realm Strategy. The 0.12-hectare plot is currently used as a surface car park.

Residents, site neighbours and local businesses can view the plans and provide feedback online by visiting the consultation website: www.addington-st-manchester.co.uk. Feedback is welcomed between now and Monday 24 June 2019.

FEC Project Director Hilary Brett said: “We have received many offers to sell the site for different uses however we have decided we wanted to bring forward the site ourselves aimed at the local, residential market in this thriving new neighbourhood. We want to introduce our proposals to the local community and genuinely welcome and value their feedback on our scheme”.
