This 3,000 square foot three story Hollywood Beach residence is meticulously designed and detailed to make the very most of its privileged ocean front setting on only 2,625 square feet of beach property. The primary approach was to exploit every possibility to take best advantage of ocean and harbor views while protecting privacy and enabling a comfortable, elegant and intimate environment.

The buildings exterior is clad in ivory and charcoal colored cement panels with accents of zinc metal shingles and Indonesian Mangeris wood planking and trim. Railings, interior and exterior, are a stainless steel cable system meant to maximize views and to withstand the rigorous ocean environment. The interior continues some of the cement panels as well as white oak paneling and dark wood floors. The approach here was to create an open, light filled elegance that connects the homes three floors and seductive beach surroundings.

The homes floating steel and wenge wood tread stair enjoys a twenty five foot tall glass wall made of translucent channel glass connecting all three levels flooding the home with a filtered northwestern light. A residential elevator accesses all floors for convenience and a ships ladder provides access to the roof top deck that commands 360 degree views of the surroundings.

The home’s interiors combine a collection of fine materials and rich colors to define, animate and sculpt the spaces. Exterior cement panels spill into the interior blurring the line between inside and out and contrasting the kitchens organic elm wood cabinets and dark wood floors. Furnishings add texture and warmth while providing multiple places from which to enjoy the spectacular view of the beach, the sand dunes, the breakwater, the ocean and the Channel islands.
