Stitched House in Wimbledon
Southwest London Residential Development, England – design by Jonathan Tuckey Design

Stitched House London
Design: Jonathan Tuckey Design, Architects
Location: Wimbledon, South West London, England
This house is an example of how you can create something very timeless by using a material like brick which ages well and has reliable thermal properties. The cantilevered brick canopy is very unusual and also creates a sheltered outside space for the London house.

According to this architecture practice, “Jonathan Tuckey Design is one of the UK's leading advocates for remodelling and radically transforming old buildings for modern uses. The practice does this in ways that reveal what buildings from different eras mean to us today. With an office in London and Andermatt, Switzerland, Jonathan Tuckey Design has worked on commercial and residential projects within Europe, the United States of America as well as South America.
Based in London, a city of historical context with modern needs and demands, Jonathan Tuckey Design enthusiastically embraces an architecture of change, for example, by juxtaposing contemporary elements with original features of existing buildings to create exciting and dynamic new uses. Working with existing buildings is also gratifying to Jonathan Tuckey Design’s clients who share the studio’s fondness for materials, craftsmanship and proportion as well as the soulfulness and idiosyncrasies of historic architecture.”
