Hamburg Architecture – Introduction

Hamburg is the major port in Germany and is located in the north of the country. Probably the most celebrated contemporary German building in the city is the new Elbphilharmonie designed by Herzog and de Meuron. Other major architecture in Hamburg includes the Empire Riverside Hotel, Office Complex Steckelhoern 11 and the Spiegel Group Hamburg headquarters. These buildings can be visited on our Hamburg Architecture Tours.

This is a controversial building easily reached on foot from the city centre to the south – massively delayed but very interesting, by celebrated swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron.
