Architects FaulknerBrowns are delighted with the news that Coventry Water Park has received planning approval.
The proposed location of the Water Park adjacent to one of the three spires within the city offers significant regeneration benefits in terms of access, footfall and synergies with the mixed-use economy of Coventry city centre.
The tight city centre location with its associated high land value, has informed a design that, to be economical, stacks the accommodation vertically instead of sprawling horizontally. To help achieve this, the design team has taken the bold and innovative step to place most of the water features and the high octane rides at the upper level of the building.
Although this has created some technical challenges, the professional team – including Appleyard & Trew, Hadron Consulting, Engenuiti, Desco and Devin Consulting – has worked collaboratively to create an exciting and unique destination for the people of, and visitors to, Coventry and the surrounding areas.
