World famous white cliffs – wing-shaped visitor centre
Denmark’s cool science centre. Learn and play your way through Denmark’s astonishing past – 70 million years back in time. Join the hunt for ferocious dinosaurs and learn about the Tertiary Period when meteor showers and super-volcanoes wiped out ⅔ of all life, about the Quaternary Period with its ginormous ice glaciers and the creation of the amazing nature – and the most stunning nature in Denmark at Møns Klint.
When you are standing on the top of the cliffs – 128 metres above the sea – you are also standing on top of the chalk foundation of Denmark. Uniquely, Denmark lies on a platform of chalk. Møns Klint is evidence of the powerful forces that created the country and the unique flora and fauna in the area.
At Høje Møn – as the area around Møns Klint is called – you will find flora and fauna that does not exist anywhere else in Denmark.
That is one of the reasons, we have applied UNESCO for Møn and the surrounding waters to be included in the UNESCO network of biosphere reserves.
