Officially the Republic of Cyprus (Greek: Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία; Turkish: Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti), this is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, off the coasts of Syria and Turkey. It is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, northwest of Israel and Palestine, north of Egypt and southeast of Greece.
The Republic is divided into six districts: Nicosia, Famagusta, Kyrenia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos.
Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots share a lot in common in their culture but also have differences.
Because of the heavy influx of tourists and foreign investors, the property rental market in this country has grown in recent years. In late 2013, the Town Planning Department announced a series of incentives to stimulate the property market and increase the number of property developments in the country’s town centres. This followed earlier measures to quickly give immigration permits to third country nationals investing in Cypriot property.
