The quiet access solution

Troldtekt acoustic panels have been used throughout the new Bagsvaerd School in Denmark. Designed by Nohr & Sigsgaard Architects, the facility has been formed by amalgamating two local schools. Split levels, double-height rooms and a high degree of transparency characterise the spacious complexity of the school, while the overall design and spaces have been well worked out with the finer details carefully considered in relation to colour, texture and materials.

Because of the potential noise, which is always a problem in schools, Troldtekt acoustic panels have been used on all the ceilings. These unify the school’s many rooms, ensuring good acoustics in classrooms and the double-height canteen. In addition, as a new feature, access panels have been fitted in all the rooms to provide access to services installed above the Troldtekt ceilings. According to the architects, this simple mechanical access, which requires neither tools nor special expertise, provides a very effective and easy solution which is well integrated into the ceiling.

Troldtekt panels are made from 100% natural wood fibres mixed with cement. Their benefits include high sound absorption, high durability, natural breathability, low cost life cycle performance and sustainability. Available in various sizes and in three grades from ultrafine to coarse, they can be left untreated or painted in virtually any RAL colour. Their sustainability was recently recognised with certification at Silver level within the Cradle to Cradle concept.
