The stylish event saw over 400 guests come together to celebrate and bid on the selection of dolls’ houses, including models by Zaha Hadid and David Adjaye. The highest bid of the evening was for Zaha Hadid’s dolls’ house, ‘This must be the place’ reaching an impressive £14,000. Not far behind was the 1.5m high dolls’ house by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, who also designed the new showroom at Bonhams in which the auction was held, which went for £11,000.

FAT Architectures’ dolls’ house, ‘Tower of Fable’, featuring miniature works of art by Grayson Perry was won by Richard Upton, chief executive of Cathedral Group, the property developers behind the project, with a winning bid of £10,000.

Online bidding for the dolls’ houses had been taking place since the official launch of ‘A Dolls’ House’ during London Design Festival in September. The online bidding was frozen at midday on Monday 11th November with the six dolls’ houses with the highest bids going through to the live auction that evening, conducted by auctioneer Matthew Girling. This included dolls’ houses by Zaha Hadid, FAT Architecture, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, Duggan Morris Architects, HLM Architects, and Morag Myerscough with Luke Morgan. The remainder of the dolls’ houses could be bid for throughout the evening through a silent auction with staff taking bids on tablets.

Helen Mitchell, Director of fundraising at KIDS comments, “The exceptional support and goodwill from the Cathedral Group and all the architects, artists and designers involved in this project has been truly overwhelming and will enable us to improve the lives and future prospects of even more disabled children and their families.”

The evening was a great success and all the money raised is being donated to UK charity KIDS, which supports disabled children, young people and their families.

The project has been kindly sponsored by Bonhams, Domus, Alno, Marley Eternit, Greenberg Traurig Maher, Realise Creative, Development Securities, Quatro PR, ING Media, Cadogan Tate and Thomas Butler.
