Designed in accordance with the standard of five-star hot-spring resort hotel, Changbai Mountains Korean Pine Valley Hotel is situated in the passenger distribution center of ChangBai Mountains, located in Jilin province, China. Perfectly blending with surrounding environment, the hotel incorporates unique elements of Changbai Mountains – or rather these eight classical elements of Changbai Mountains: water, fire, ice, rock, deer, fur, fog and woods – and local time-honoured Shaman culture, letting tourists be exposed to the culture essence and distinctive climate of Changbai Mountains.

Typically, local timbers from Changbai Mountains were used in many decorations of the hotel, such as the lightings and walls, not only to highlight the theme of the hotel, representing the unique elements of Changbai Mountains, but also to save the freight cost of materials.

The choice of wooden material is based on four kinds of wood material: wood facing, wood floor, new solid wood and old solid wood. Wood facing and wood floor is difficult to present the pristine and rough sense in accordance with the theme of the hotel design; new solid wood is a good choice, but the diurnal temperature variation has a significant impact on the new solid wood; the choice of old solid wood is a recycle of used wood, and the texture of old solid wood perfectly corresponds to the theme of the hotel design.

The lobby of the hotel indeed lives up to the very role to first draw guests’ attention. An array of chandeliers made of interlaced tree root, a reception made of the bottom portion of the tree and floor lamps made of tree branches – all lend the hotel a very strong sense of mysteriousness, especially when against the spectacular scenery of Changbai Mountains outside the window in lobby.

For the design of resting area, elements of deer, pinecone, mushroom and leaves among others are incorporated, making the whole space seem like a forest. Those varied fantastic colours of the furniture represent the vitality of the forest in Changbai Mountains.

In the banquet hall, those pyramids of different angles of the lighting represent a long length of winter’s snow mountains scene of Changbai Mountains, and along the curtain walls alternate panels of local logs and panels of cross-section design of logs, which highlights the theme of the hotel.

The guest room features streamlined design – simple lines are intended to extend a deep sense of coziness and comfort to the guests. The pattern “Mountains of God” characterised by Changbai Mountains above the head of beds also adds a Changbai Mountains’s spirit to the room.

When the guest come out of the room and take to the passage, a carpet of tree’s section design runs all the way up to the other end, and along the carpet line decorative panels of brown wood, which make the hotel look like a small castle built in the tree.
