Plural, contemporary and investigative projects, concerning mainly the use of materials and the urban interaction, are fundamental characteristics of the works by Brazilian architecture office FGMF Arquitetos. Because it is an expansion, an attachment, the architects chose a harmonious integration with the existing building, on a site of modest dimensions, with a program of needs that conditioned the use of its whole construction potential. The architects’ concern was to integrate the two parts while providing the architecture with its own personality. In order to achieve this, the architects used a horizontal block to simulate continuity to the existing building, and a vertical bar to break this idea, creating a counterpoint to it.
