Global Contemporary Art Museum Building in Massachusetts
This 165,000-square-foot exhibition and art storage facility for contemporary art adapts the economical and flexible building system of industrial sheds and the scale, massing, and form of early industrial mill buildings, such as those seen at the nearby Mass MoCA.

Western Massachusetts Residence
This residence in Western Massachusetts maintains a dualistic relationship with the lake against which it is nestled. When seen from the street, the house is abstract in form, showing no aperture or puncture. As one steps down the walking path and towards the lake, however, the house opens itself up.

Arup Implements Comprehensive Energy Strategies at New Northeastern University Interdisciplinary Science & Engineering Complex (ISEC).
Using advanced computer modeling to integrate the design of the building systems and facade, Arup significantly reduced operational costs and improved energy efficiency, putting the project on the road to LEED Gold status—an exceptional achievement for a laboratory facility.

Mecanoo wins prestigious architecture prize in Boston

Mecanoo architecten, led by Francine Houben, has received the Harleston Parker Medal for designing the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building. The Harleston Parker Medal is Boston’s most prestigious architecture prize. The project, on which Mecanoo collaborated with local firm Sasaki Associates, also won the People’s Choice Award.

Ennead Architects broke ground last week on construction of the expansion of the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM), one of the fastest-growing art museums in North America, located in Salem, Massachusetts. Part of one of the largest art museum campaigns in the country, the expansion includes the addition of a 40,000 SF wing designed by Ennead partner Richard Olcott, along with 17,500 SF of renovation to adjacent structures.
Powerhouse Student Event Space, Amherst College – Oct 30, 2016

Amherst College engaged Bruner/Cott to create a student gathering and event space in a tactful but raw reworking of their historic 1925 McKim Mead & White steam plant. The existing classic form with its industrial interior was reconfigured to accommodate performances, dance parties, speakers and other student gatherings. Lighting and sound systems with flexible furniture concepts support this broad range of activities.
General Electric HQ Building in Boston – 12 Aug 2016

This 12-story glass building has a sail-like solar panel ‘veil’ on top plus an illuminated GE logo. It is connected to two renovated brick warehouses.
The new headquarters complex overlooks Boston’s Fort Point Channel and has a maritime theme.

This ambitious project enables Lesley University to relocate the College of Art and Design from its Kenmore Square site in Boston to a unified campus that stretches from the edge of Harvard Square into the heart of Porter Square. The project’s locus, at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Roseland Street, reinforces Lesley’s mission of uniting the arts across the university as well as its commitment to the City of Cambridge.

Renowned for design excellence and for its collaborative approach, Ennead was chosen from a group of distinguished architecture firms that were invited to participate in a design charrette this summer.

The architects propose increasing the number of waterfront residences to meet the current demand for young professional housing by building on the water. Floatyard will be a floating complex – entirely on water – that will provide both housing and public programming.

This is an innovative zero-net-energy building. The 24,000-square-foot combined transit center and government office is the first of its type in the United States. Also designated as a future train depot on the Connecticut River corridor, the building is designed to generate through renewable sources all the energy that it uses—meaning its net-energy consumption over the course of a year will be zero.

ENfold a 500′ glowing ribbon in Frederick Law Olmsted’s Evan’s Way Park, directly across from the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum, is currently under construction. The installation has already been recognized by the Boston Society of Architects, as it has been nominated to receive an 2013 Unbuilt Architecture Award.

The office building is a part of Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s Dudley Square Vision Project, which seeks to revitalize the once-thriving urban neighborhood of Roxbury and mass transit hub Dudley Square. The 17,000 m² facility will become the headquarters of the Boston Public Schools Administration and will include green, state-of-the-art office space, retail and civic spaces, and meeting space for the community.
