Battersby Howat documents the work of two young designers who practice in Vancouver. It focuses on ten projects that include urban housing, island cabins and a new field station for UBC.

Battersby Howat Book

The 96 page book, published by TUNS Press in the ‘Architectural Signatures Canada’ series, traces the design of these projects through conceptual sketches, construction details, models and photographs. The book received a 2014 COUPE International Award.

Battersby Howat

Established in 1996, Battersby Howat is a partnership between founders David Battersby and Heather Howat. Combining architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design, the practice offers a holistic approach to design.

“The office is conceived as a collaborative studio endeavour, and pursues an architectural expression that embodies a spirit of contemporary living that is modest and without pretense. Our involvement in varying scales of privately commissioned work has included multi-family residential, private residences, gardens, art galleries, showrooms, office interiors, and custom furniture.”
