Winners of 2017 SBID Awards

The results of the SBID International Design Awards have been announced!

A specially selected Technical Panel of industry experts carefully assessed every entry on its technical merits, eliminating only those that did not meet required building and safety standards and the brief. All eligible entries were then assessed by the panel of expert Judges. The judges are selected due to their standing in their creative field; they have each achieved a high level of creativity and professionalism in their career.

In addition to its industry status, SBID has a strong relationship with the public, the ultimate consumers of design. For this reason, a public vote makes up 30% of the final result.

OVERALL WINNER

The Whale Bar, St Regis Hotel, The Maldives

The Whale Bar’s distinctive shape recalls the majestic whale shark. This whimsical but elegant retreat is elevated by light-oak interiors and a softly lit neutral palette.

SBID Awards Deadline Extended

DEADLINE EXTENDED: FRIDAY 14TH JULY

Hotel Design Rooms & Suites

This category is dedicated exclusively to bedrooms and suites within hotel interiors. Entries can include a full or part refurbishment, both new builds and restoration projects and should show high levels of creativity and innovation.

Healthcare Design

The healthcare category can include any interior project within a hospital, healthcare facility, care-related property or wellness centre. It will take into account innovative approaches to healthcare environments and how the patient/visitor is engaged. Gyms, spas and well-being centres are also accepted too!

CGI Visualisation

This category rewards skill and innovation in the use of visual software. Your entry should include any interior design visual or CGI that has been created on a visualisation programme, including AutoCad, CAD, 3ds Max, InteriCAD and Vectorworks.

Club & Bar Design

This category is dedicated to the interior design of bars and/or clubs, including but not limited to nightclubs, private members clubs, bars in public spaces and more! They can be permanent, pop-up or temporary. The judges will take into account the functionality, compliance and fit-for-purpose design.

Retail Design

The Retail Design category covers all commercial interiors created for retail outlets including shopping centres, shops, showrooms, pop-up shops and art galleries. Projects can be a complete refurbishment or smaller commissions within these buildings.

Residential Apartment Under £1 M

New this year, this category also focuses on interior design projects with an overall value of under £1 Million but is specific to Apartments. Recognising the achievement for the budget, functionality and aesthetics, entries can also include a single room, several rooms, or a whole apartment.

Restaurant Design

This category is solely for restaurant interior design projects and can include restaurants in public spaces. Judges will take into account functionality, compliance and fit-for-purpose design. This category also includes pop-up and temporary restaurants or cafes.

Residential House Under £1 M

This category focuses on the interior design of homes with an overall value of under £1 Million, and recognises not only the achievement for the budget but also functionality and aesthetics. Projects can include a single room, several rooms, or a whole house.

Residential Property Over £1 M

This is the premium category of residential interior design projects. It focuses on design trends and the wow factor of residential projects with an overall value of over £1 Million. Projects can include a single room, several rooms, or a whole property.

Show Flats & Developments

The Show Flat and Development category is specifically for marketing suites and show homes, focusing on functionality, aesthetic and the ability to translate the developer’s vision and engage the customer. In particular, judges will analyse attention to detail and fit for purpose design.

Hotel Design Public Space

This category is dedicated exclusively to public spaces within hotel interiors. Entries can include a full or part refurbishment, both new builds and restoration projects and should show high levels of creativity and innovation. Projects can include lobbies, spa’s, ballrooms and meeting rooms.

Office Design

Created exclusively office design spaces, this category recognises entries that reflect how the concept creates a pleasant, efficient work space and meets the needs of both the client and the employees who work in the space. This too can include temporary and/or pop- up work spaces.

KBB Design

An all time favourite, the KBB design category welcomes kitchen, bedroom and/or bathroom design in a residential space. Projects can include single rooms or several rooms.
