The history of the parish provided inspiration for the new design on this ten-acre site which incorporated tangible references to the community’s mining and construction past through the use of local materials and hand crafted construction detailing.

Inspired by the petrified wood on site, a material that over time has transformed from wood into stone, this house also retains the memory of the past. The alchemic process is analogous to the transformation of this historic farmhouse into a contemporary residence for today.

The Topaz Museum, located in Delta, Utah, is an 8000 SF cultural facility that provides information and interpretation regarding the internment of more than 11,000 Japanese Americans that occurred during WWII at the nearby Topaz Internment Camp site.

Located in Emigration Canyon just above Salt Lake City, Utah, this single family residence of 2500SF was designed for a couple with young children. The home was designed to capture expansive canyon views while offering a series of gathering and entertainment spaces for the family, both indoors and out. The great room opens to the canyon with a 30 foot operable wall to transform the space into an outdoor room.

The design competition seeks to harness ideas from around the world that will activate the spaces between with creativity deeply rooted in the city’s rich context.

BIG + Architectural Nexus + Dunn Associates + VBFA + Envision Engineering + Big D design the winning proposal for the renovation and expansion of Kimball Art Center in Park City, projected for completion by Mid-2015 The Kimball Art Center, home to Sundance House during the Annual Sundance Film Festival, invited an international group of architects to submit designs for an interior renovation of the existing building and the construction of a new building directly adjacent to the original, located centrally in Park City, Utah.

The 17-acre site is located on the high “bench” that marks the shoreline of ancient Lake Bonneville and offers breathtaking views in all directions. This Utah building rests on a series of terraces that step up the hill and lay along the contours of the site.
