WILL ALSOPS FIRST
NORTH AMERICAN ART EXHIBIT PREMIERES AT
OLGA KORPER GALLERY JUNE 8 JULY 28
Toronto, 31 May 2007

Will Alsop the internationally renowned architect, artist and lecturer,
responsible for the provocative OCAD table top building will be unleashing
his equally expressive contemporary paintings in his first North American
Art Exhibit entitled Cultural Fog at the Olga Korper gallery June 8
July 28th.
Since the OCAD building, Will has become an integral part of Torontos
architectural renaissance. While many see the potential in areas such
as the Queen West triangle, Will Alsop has also found inspiration in other
city neighborhoods including Riverdale, Roncesvalles as well as Kensington
Market, the subject of Cultural Fog. In this exhibit, Alsop questions
the nature of urbanism and community. I paint to learn, to exercise
my brain and my imagination. Cultural Fog is my musing on the possibilities
for Kensington Market and the real nature of community.

Alsops international experience and outsiders perspective
provide a unique view of the citys potential and how it can be achieved.
When speaking on community, he recognizes it all comes back to a sense
of civic pride and identity. By making a city inspiring and inventive,
says Alsop, it becomes different from anywhere else in the world.
Alsops paintings have been exhibited alongside his architectural
projects and by several prestigious institutions, demonstrating how art
contributes to the built environment. Cultural Fog is Alsops first
art exhibit in North America.
Time: Opening 6-9pm
Date: June 7
Place: Olga Korper Gallery. 17 Morrow Ave. Exhibit continues from June
8 to July 28th.
