Stuttgart Stadium History

The Stuttgart Stadium was in 1933 Hitler’s Kampfbahn, used for Hitler’s recruiting propaganda.

After World War II American soldiers renamed the Kampfbahn as the Century-Stadium and played baseball there.

In 1949 the ground became the Neckarstadion.

It was used for the 1974 Football World Cup in 1974 and 2006.

In 1993 the Neckarstadion was renamed as Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion after the founder of the automobile.

The capacity is approximately 54,000.

Paul Bonatz (1877 – 1956) was a German architect, member of the Stuttgart School and professor at the technical university in that city during part of World War II and from 1954 until his death. He worked in many styles, but most often in a simplified neo-Romanesque,
