This religious site has gone from Secular to Christian to Islamic and back to Christian:

Site of Roman temple, later a Christian Visigoth church in the 7thC
Once the second-largest mosque in the world
Completed at the time of the Umayyad dynasty
Converted to Roman Catholic cathedral after the Reconquista

Architecturally famous for its double arches and patterned stonework of jasper, onix, granite and marble

Mezquita is Spanish for mosque
