The plans also detail the way in which the 'iconic building', created from two separate structures arching up to meet each other will be built within two pools of water, reinforcing the connection between the building and the River Tay. Aberdeen City Garden Competition image of winning design Aberdeen City Garden Design The controversial £140m garden project in Aberdeen is cancelled. Residents voted yes in the referendum on controversial plans to redevelop the city's Union Terrace Gardens. People were asked if they want to keep the historic gardens as they are or back the £140m City Garden Project redevelopment. But with changes after the recent election it appears the project may not now proceed. RIAS Awards RIAS Awards shortlist The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland announces Strong Scottish Shortlist for the RIAS Awards. Chapelton image of Chapelton Scottish New Town The largest planned new town in Scotland, south of Aberdeen. The developers behind Aberdeenshire’s planned new town, Chapelton, have put sustainability at the top of the agenda with the appointment of advisors focused on finding low-carbon, affordable solutions for the utilities provision for the 8,000 home town. Elsick Development Company has appointed mechanical and electrical engineers RSP Consulting and utilities broker Inventa Partners to work together to develop a proposal for all utilities for the development, including water, gas, telecoms and electricity.
