Bennetts Associates Architects wins Castle Precision commission
Bennetts Associates has recently won the design competition for Castle
Precision Engineering (Glasgow) Ltds new advanced manufacturing
facility and headquarters in East Renfrewshire. Castle Precision Engineering
manufactures components for aircraft engines, defence applications and
related industries. The firms new facility on a 20-acre agricultural
site aims to be an energy efficient, carbon neutral building commensurate
with its landscaped setting. The development will incorporate state-of-the-art
technologies within a flexible plan whilst evoking the spirit of the modern
aerospace industry.
Currently, discussions are underway with the East Renfrewshire Council
planning department regarding the site and proposals. The new headquarters
plant will encompass 10,000 square metres over a 4-phased process with
an anticipated completion of the first phase in 2010/2011. Bennetts Associates
was chosen from a shortlist consisting of Page and Park, Aedas, Michael
Gilmore Associates, Bradford Robertson Architects and Michael Laird Architects.
The competition was organised for the client by the RIAS.
