Archial Architects Secures Planning Permission
for Elegant Flat Development at Inverness's Caledonian Canal
Archial Architects, one of the largest architecture practices in Scotland
and the UK, has secured planning permission for an ambitious and elegant
development of 81 apartments to be located alongside Inverness's historic
Caledonian Canal - a main gateway into the Highland Capital.
The area's Planning Committee approved the development which will
see the construction of six three, four and five storey blocks of
flats on the site of a derelict filling station on the A82 and Torvean
Caravan Park.
One three storey block will front on to Glenurquhart Road while two
five storey blocks and one four storey block will overlook the Caledonian
Canal.
Greg Duncan, Director at Inverness-based Archial Architects, said,
"We were delighted to work with the developer and the area's
planning officials on what has been a demanding brief for this prestigious
city gateway site. All involved wished to ensure that the proposal
for this brownfield site would deliver well designed homes for Inverness's
people".
"We also wanted to ensure that it delivered a strong message
to tourists and potential inward investors that Inverness is a modern,
vibrant city, confident and embracing leading edge design in its architectural
portfolio.
It is important, too, that Inverness's architecture reflects its identity
as a modern city.
"Archial Architects is an international company and our office
is able to offer our clients an international and outward looking
design service drawn from our many creative and talented designers.
Archial's Inverness office is committed to designing projects which
are sympathetic to the local architecture, but in keeping with the
area's forward looking and ambitious mindset."
Archial Group Plc employs around 200 staff in Scotland, operating
from offices in Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Dundee.
