Bu El Qubeb Mosques have been recently restored on the site in order to preserve its traditional style. The goal of this project was to reinterpret the meaning of these traditional buildings, and to provide a solution for it to coexist in the urban fabric. CTBUH Best Tall Building Worldwide 2012 - winner news Doha Tower image Courtesy Ateliers Jean Nouvel CTBUH Best Tall Building Worldwide - 19 Oct 2012 This building design by French architect Jean Nouvel, was named Best Tall Building Worldwide by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. Doha Tower, which was first named the Best Tall Building in the Middle East and Africa, took the overall award out of the four regional winners. The building was honored for incorporating elements of traditional regional design with modern technologies to create an environmentally-sensitive icon for Qatar’s capital. Museum Islamic Art Park, Doha I M Pei Courtesy of the Museum of Islamic Art Museum Islamic Art Park - 6 Jun 2011 Located on the grounds of the world-renowned Museum of Islamic Art, the nearly 280,000-square-meter (68-acre), crescent-shaped park is designed by Pei Partnership Architects of New York and will feature a vertical steel sculpture by internationally acclaimed American artist Richard Serra. The as-yet-untitled sculpture is Richard Serra’s first public artwork in the Middle East. Details of the MIA Park’s grand opening and related public events will be announced at a later date.
