Participants were invited to conceive of an interior design solution for the home environment or for public/commercial spaces. Professionals and Students were asked to apply one or more colours from the new black tones of DuPont™ Corian® made with the new DeepColour™ Technology* (Deep Nocturne, Deep Night Sky, Deep Black Quartz, Deep Anthracite).

The projects were judged on the following criteria:
– expression of the fascinating qualities and beauty of the new black colours of Corian®
– creativity and innovation
– functionality
– aesthetic value
– environmental sustainability
– potential as a commercially available product
– correct use/optimisation of the properties and performance of DuPont™ Corian®
– appropriate application of decoration and surface modification techniques
– marketing/sales potential

“The standard and the variety of entries from countries across the entire Europe Middle East and Africa region for this competition has been very encouraging. The broad scope of the judging process, from the input of international experts and professionals to the ‘fan’ vote on Facebook, has resulted in in two worthy Winners and in a fascinating spectrum of Honourable Mentions, all proposing concepts that have beautifully and ingeniously interpreted our specific aesthetic and functional criteria,” Jean-Yves Bach, Business Director of DuPont Building Innovations, Europe Middle-East and Africa.

The jury included representatives from the architecture and design community, industry and media from various EMEA countries, as well as specialists from DuPont™ Corian®. A “popular jury” made up of Facebook fans also contributed to the voting process.
