Andel's Hotel, Prague, Czech Republic - Jestico + Whiles Jestico + Whiles were appointed as designers of a the 4 star hotel at Andel City, a 100,000m² leisure and business development in central Prague. The 280 bedroom Andel’s brings hotel lobby culture to Prague for the first time. Passing through an oversized pivoting door to enter the lobby, the guest enters a cool, uncluttered lobby lined with textured limestone. In the centre of the lobby, a maze of full-length curtains of translucent metallic voile defines private and semi-private “rooms” occupied by unexpected object- benches, a traditional writing desk, an over-sized bunch of flowers. In the centre of the lobby enclosed by walls of etched glass, a contemporary interpretation of the traditional grand hotel staircase leads to the upper levels. The new café bar at ‘Andel’s’ is destined to become Prague’s most fashionable new venue. Both guests and city dwellers alike will gather to experience the cool, atmospheric space in the established tradition of the lobby hotel. The first floor brasserie restaurant seats over 200 guests in either large groups or intimate tables of four or two, for breakfast through to evening banquets. The conference suite caters for a wide range of functions, from fashion shows to corporate presentations and IT training, or banqueting for up to 400. The walls are panelled with brilliant peacock blue suede in which all doors and control panels are completely concealed. The bedrooms are flooded by light from floor to ceiling windows, and simple but sumptuous furniture in suede, polished lacquer and glass leaves the rooms uncluttered. The bathrooms are lined with white glass in place of the expected ceramic tiles. The lavatory and shower are in separate enclosures, defined by etched glass doors, through which a single wall of flame coloured glass glows, warming the whole room. An enamelled wash basin is set at perfect working height, raised above a low wash stand of dove grey marble. A slot window of frosted glass in the wall to the bedroom reveals shadows of those moving within.
