A competition has recently
opened for the architectural project of a major contemporary art museum
in Wroclaw, Poland. The total sum of prizes exceeds 100.000 euro, and
the deadline for the registration in the competition is 20th June 2008.
For full competition rules and deadlines, as well as other supporting
information please visit www.muzeumwspolczesne.pl
The Contemporary Museum building is to be situated in a premium location
within the city's historical old town, in a vicinity of existing museums
and monuments. The neighboring landscape is strongly marked by gothic
and modernist architecture surrounded by parks.
The Museum will house an exceptional collection of acknowledged contemporary
art, but its main goal is to create a dynamic ecosystem of cultural exchange
reaching beyond the traditional idea of an art exhibition.
Wroclaw is a rapidly developing city (pop. 700.000) with a strong cultural
and economic background, and multinational history. It is situated in
southwestern part of Poland (3hrs drive from both Berlin and Prague),
and is one of Poland's largest and richest cities.
