The Louvre Pyramid by IM Pei was one of the most controversial of President
Mitterrands´ Grand Projets:
Entitled Le Grand Louvre, the design completed in 1981 involved a glass
pyramid central to the courtyard allowing better access and circulation
into these famous Parisian galleries.
I M Pei & Partners were formed in 1966 and received the American Institute
of Architects 1968 Architectural Firm Award. I M Pei & Partners have
since become Pei Cobb Freed & Partners: their office is in New York.
