One of the strongest buildings of President Mitterrand´s “Les Grands Projects”
Famous for its arabic-inspired fenestration where small oculi open & contract to allow varying levels of light in.

The Institue du Monde Arabe was a result of one of the first Grands Projet architecture competitions. Much of the builidng is quite dark inside, with some rather leftover spaces, especially in the Lower level. The overall massing and clever orignailty of the architecture however make it a Paris building well worth visiting.
