OMA to design residential high-rise/CAA Screening Room in New York City (New York, December 4th, 2007) Slazer Enterprises, developer of One Madison Park, announced today a collaboration with Los Angeles-based Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) to develop a high- end residential tower, OMA’s first in New York City. The partnership allies the talent agency and OMA to create the CAA Screening Room, which will be available for residents of the tower and CAA guests. Located on Manhattan’s Madison Square Park, the One Madison Park project is a development which will comprise two buildings: the new, 22-story OMA design and another 60-story residential tower currently under construction. The OMA designed tower will comprise of 21 high- end dwellings with views over Manhattan’s cityscape. Scheduled completion is in 2010 and the total surface will be 62,000sf. "This partnership with Rem Koolhaas/OMA and CAA is incredibly exciting," said Ira Shapiro, co-founder of Slazer Enterprises. "We are able to offer the chance to live in OMA’s first residential building in New York and give One Madison Park residents access to a screening room unlike any other." OMA’s participation in the One Madison Park project goes beyond design to a risk sharing basis. “For OMA this is the first time our office will participate on such a financial base in a project. We not only incur the risks of being involved but we will share the added value normally gained only by the developers,” says OMA managing partner Victor van der Chijs. CAA is a premier Hollywood agency which represents members of the film, theatre, design and sport industries and they represent, among others, John Cleese, Hillary Swank, Donald Trump, Sydney Pollack and Cindy Crawford. At OMA, the One Madison Park project is led by OMA founder and partner Rem Koolhaas and Shohei Shigematsu, the director of OMA New York, and will be designed by OMA*AMO New York. The New York office is currently working on several projects such as a hotel and residential high-rise at 111 First Street in Jersey City and Milstein Hall at Cornell University. In the past OMA’s New York office has been responsible for the Seattle Central Library, The Prada Epicenters in New York and Los Angeles and the IIT Campus Centre in Chicago.
