Resnick Exhibition Pavilion LACMA LACMA RESNICK EXHIBITION PAVILION Los Angeles’s Dramatic New Space for Art The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion Resnick Exhibition Pavilion images from LACMA The new Resnick Pavilion is designed for LACMA by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano. The Resnick Exhibition Pavilion, a key feature of LACMA’s ongoing Transformation, offers a major expansion of the museum’s exhibition space and further unifies the western half of the museum’s twenty-acre campus. A single-story, 45,000 square foot structure, the Resnick Pavilion is the largest purpose-built, naturally lit, open-plan museum space in the world. “We are extremely grateful to Lynda and Stewart for their extraordinary support of LACMA, which has made this great new Pavilion possible,” said CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director Michael Govan. “We are expecting a fantastic turnout on September 25 to honor them and to begin the celebration of this exquisite new building, which is a gift to Los Angeles and the world.” The Resnick Pavilion will open to the public on October 2, 2010, with three exhibitions on view. They are Eye for the Sensual: Selections from the Resnick Collection; Olmec: Colossal Masterworks of Ancient Mexico; and Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700-1915. Based in Los Angeles, the Resnicks own and manage Roll International Corporation and its companies, including POM Wonderful, Teleflora, FIJI Water, Wonderful Pistachios, Cuties, and Paramount Agricultural Companies. Through their companies and the Resnick Family Foundation, they are committed to preserving and protecting the environment, supporting essential education programs and improving the communities where their employees live and work. Mrs. Resnick has served as a member of LACMA’s Board of Trustees since 1992 and has acted as chair of the museum’s Acquisitions Committee since 1995. Mrs. Resnick also serves on the Executive Board of the Aspen Institute, for which she chairs the Communications Committee; the Executive Board for the UCLA Medical Sciences; the Prostate Cancer Foundation; and the Milken Family Foundation. She is also a trustee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Mr. Resnick currently serves as a member of the Executive Board of the UCLA Medical Sciences; the Board of Trustees of Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY; the Board of Trustees of the J. Paul Getty Trust; and the Board of Conservation International. He is also a trustee of the California Institute of Technology and a member of the Advisory Board of the Anderson School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles.
