Former Patrick Lichfield's studios in Notting Hill
Patrick Lichfield¹s old studios come back to life as a venue
to show international contemporary art + architecture

Ursula Schulz-Dornburg + Lawrence Weiner
18 November - 19 December at The Lichfield Studios
From 18 November Patrick Lichfield's old art-photographic studios
in Notting Hill will come back to life as a venue to show international
contemporary art.
Curator Tristan Hoare and celebrated international architect Jean-Michel
Wilmotte, whose practice is situated on the first floor of the studios,
will alternate exhibitions at the space. Hoare intends to show work
rarely seen in this country, with three to four exhibitions per
year, whilst Wilmotte's displays will focus on architecture.
Hoare's launch exhibition deals with concepts of time. American
conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner's outsize lettering TURNED AS
THE WORLD TURNS will be mounted on the outside of The Lichfield
Studios, whilst the work of German artist Ursula Schulz-Dornburg
will be displayed in the studios. This will be Schulz-Dornburg's
first major UK show and will include work from her seminal Sonnenstand
/ Solar Position series, taken during her journey to Santiago de
Compostela. The images capture the movement of light in the nine
hermitages that line the medieval pilgrimage route, turning the
chapels into sundials. A second series of work shows the timeless
landscapes of the deserts of old Mesopotamia, present-day Iraq.
