Designer Terence Conran, founder of the Design Museum, passed away in September 2020, aged 88 years old. Sir Terence Conran had a greater impact than any other designer of his generation, revolutionising everyday life in Britain.

Founding the Design Museum in Shad Thames in 1989 following an innovative start as the Boilerhouse in the basement of the Victoria and Albert Museum, Sir Terence Conran was a visionary mentor, leader and philanthropist. In 2016, The Design Museum relocated to Kensington, West London. Leading architect John Pawson converted the interior of a 1960s modernist building to create a new home for it, providing three times more space.

Horselydown Square is on the corner of Shad Thames and Horselydown Lane close to the southern end of Tower Bridge. It consists primarily of flats, but with shops and offices on the ground floor. It supposedly has Dutch influence, Julyan Wickham’s father-in-law being Aldo van Eyck. It contains Tower Bridge Piazza and the fountain sculpture ‘Waterfall’ designed by Antony Donaldson in 1991.
