ERIC PARRY ARCHITECTS
TO DESIGN MAJOR PALLADIO EXHIBITION
22 Aug 2008
Eric Parry Architects has been appointed by The Royal Academy of Arts
to design the exhibition devoted to the 16th century master architect
Andrea Palladio, which opens in London in January 2009.
The most significant exhibition of Palladios work in more than 30
years, some 200 exhibits will be displayed in a series of themed rooms
designed to appeal both to scholars and the wider public. The design of
the gallery spaces will reflect the intimacy and immediacy of Palladios
own drawings and the completed vision through the display of stunning
contemporary models.
Eric Parry of Eric Parry Architects said:
This is a wonderful opportunity to share the vision of one of the
worlds most significant architects with the general public.
MaryAnn Stevens, Director of Academic Affairs and Exhibition Curator,
Royal Academy of Arts added; EPAs design was chosen for its
vivid solution to the challenge of presenting architecture within an exhibition
without the presence of the building.
The exhibition has been organised by the Royal Academy of Arts, London
in collaboration with the Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura
Andrea Palladio and the Royal Institute of British Architects to mark
the quincentenary of Palladios birth.
The exhibition is open to the public from 31 January - 13 April 2009.
